And they came to Jericho. And as he was leaving Jericho with his disciples and a great crowd, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, the son of Timaeus, was sitting by the roadside. And when he heard that it is was Jesus Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” And many rebuked him, telling him to be silent. But he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” And Jesus stopped… (Mark 10:46-49)
Jesus was arguably the busiest man the world has ever known. I say that because scripture says that books wouldn’t be able to contain all that Jesus ever did. It is not out of the question that the majority of what Jesus did was stop for countless people like Bartimaeus.
At Circle City Relief we stop every week for our friends at 34th and Meridian to help those that are in need of many things. It is our desire to live out Matthew 25:31-40 where Jesus said, ‘Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me—you did it to me.’ (MSG)
Will you stop with us? Will you who are busy with so much from family, jobs, friends, functions, business or personal things stop with us for one day a month or more? We have a lot for you to do from home base and office assistance, pizza pick up, serving site distribution help, and engagement team efforts.
Jesus didn’t just stop. Jesus is recorded to have asked Bartimaeus, “What do you want me to do for you?” Our friends request a lot of things. From food to clothing needs and we want to connect them to appropriate resources based on their circumstance. Housing resources for the homeless. Financial assistance for those who are experiencing possible eviction, utility disconnection, job loss or family crisis, counseling for those caught up in strongholds and much more as we pray for people knowing that there is power when we first seek His kingdom and His righteousness.
We can’t do all of this without your help. Stop with us so we can make a difference in the lives of others and live as Jesus lived.
